Between 1994 and 2008, David Barbour travelled to Havana fifteen times to document life on the streets, complete professional assignments, and lead photo workshops. In 1999, he was awarded a Mid-Career Canada Council Grant to continue his work in Cuba. He has exhibited the work in numerous exhibitions, including a two-person exhibition with Magnum photographer Bruce Gilden. His goal is to publish a book of the material titled, "Looking for Castro". If you are interseted in purchasing a 16x20 archival black and white fiber print, please contact him.
David Barbour gratefully acknowledges the support of the Canada Council Arts Council to complete this project.
