Between 1994 and 2016, David Barbour has travelled to Havana 23 times to document life on the street, complete professional assignments and lead photo workshops. The project which he titles, Looking for Castro, reflects the strength of the Cuban people in their daily lives. As the project evolves, one can view Looking for Castro on YouTube as a slideshow or as an album on Blurb books.
This project has been produced with Kodak Plus-X or Tri-X film and David's preferred camera - a Leica M6. All photographs are printed on Ilford Warm Tone 16x20 fiber paper.
In 1999, he received a Mid Career Canada Council Grant to continue the project and gratefully acknowledges their support.
