David Barbour has taught a range of photo courses and workshops throughout his career. He currently teaches Foundations in Digital Photography and Photojournalism at the School of Photographic Arts (SPAO) as well Introduction to Digital at the Ottawa School of Art. David offers one-on-one daily workshops for individuals who cannot commit to a weekly course. The following workshops can be organized:
- Introduction to the Black and White Darkroom: Students will be introduced to how to process film and fiber prints in David's home darkroom.
- Introduction to Digital Photography: If you just purchased a digital camera and are feeling overwhelmed, David will simplify your menu choices, show you how to improve your flash photographs and teach you how to enhance your work in Aperture or Lightroom.
- Portfolio Review: If you are preparing for your first exhibition or self-produced book, get David's professional feedback on your portfolio. His suggestions could improve the outcome of your presentation.
- Street Photography: Complete exercises that will emphasize pre-visualization and composition, with instant feedback on the street.
The cost of a one day course for one person, which will comprise of a total of six teaching hours and be structured to your requirements is $350 plus HST.
If you work in a government department or business, David has structured workshops with the Senate of Canada, Metis Foundation of Ontario, International Development Research Center, Aga Khan Foundation, as well as the US Embassy to assist internal staff to improve their coverage of events and portraits. The cost of a one day workshop, structured to your requirements, is $500 plus HST.
